A SIL provider delivers the day-to-day disability support or supervision you need in your home. This can include personal care, cooking, cleaning, routines, skill development, medication support and safety supervision. Current NDIS requirements also require SIL providers to meet applicable registration requirements.
SIL is the support you receive in your home, while SDA is specialist housing for eligible participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. A participant may receive both where each is approved, but they are separate NDIS home and living supports.
Your preferences should be part of decisions about a shared living arrangement. GNA Services discusses household compatibility, routines and support needs during the matching process; however, available housemates and homes depend on current vacancies and suitability.
SIL funding pays for eligible disability-related support delivered in your home. It does not pay ordinary living expenses such as rent, groceries, utilities, vehicle costs or holiday expenses. Your exact funded supports depend on your NDIS plan and agreed service arrangement.
If you are homeless or experiencing a housing crisis, MTA and NDIS short-term accommodation should not be treated as emergency housing. Speak with your my NDIS contact or support coordinator about changes to your disability support needs and use appropriate state or territory homelessness or mainstream housing services for urgent housing assistance. GNA Services can discuss suitable NDIS home and living supports and current vacancies where applicable.
