Affordable, government-subsidised support to help you live independently at home. From transport and gardening to social outings and domestic help—all at low income-tested contributions.
CHSP is an Australian Government initiative designed to help older Australians (65+, or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) live independently at home for longer.
Unlike Support at Home packages, CHSP provides entry-level support for people with lower care needs. Services are subsidised by the government, so you pay only a small contribution based on your income.
A range of practical services to support your independence, all at affordable subsidised rates.
Get to appointments, shops, and social activities safely.
Keep your garden safe and maintained.
Minor repairs and safety modifications.
Help with household tasks you find difficult.
Combat loneliness and stay connected.
Nutritious meals prepared or delivered.
CHSP services are heavily subsidised by the Australian Government. You only pay a small income-tested contribution — full pensioners pay the lowest rates, while self-funded retirees pay a slightly higher (but still subsidised) contribution. Your exact contribution is confirmed during your assessment.
Your actual contribution is confirmed after your assessment and depends on your service mix, income, and assets. All CHSP services are subsidised — these are not full commercial rates. Contact us for a personalised quote.

"The gardening service has been a godsend. I can't manage the lawns anymore, and the small income-tested contribution is well worth it — they keep my garden looking lovely. The chap who comes is always cheerful and does a great job."
"I don't drive anymore, so the transport service is essential. They pick me up for doctor's appointments and even take me to my weekly craft group. It keeps me connected to the community."
"I wasn't sure I needed help, but the domestic assistance has made such a difference. Just having someone help with the heavy cleaning means I can manage the rest myself. It's given me my confidence back."
CHSP is available to Australians aged <strong>65 and over</strong> (or <strong>50+</strong> for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) who need some help to stay living at home. You must have difficulty doing everyday tasks due to age, health, or disability. There's no assets or income test for eligibility—only your contributions are income-tested.
CHSP contributions are <strong>income-tested</strong> and subsidised by the Australian Government — your exact contribution depends on whether you're a full pensioner, part pensioner, or self-funded retiree, plus the mix of services you receive. Full pensioners pay the lowest contribution; self-funded retirees pay slightly more but rates remain well below commercial pricing. <a href="/contact"><strong>Request a personalised quote</strong></a> and we'll walk you through what you'll pay.
<strong>CHSP</strong> is for entry-level needs—occasional help with transport, gardening, cleaning, or social support. <strong>Support at Home</strong> (formerly Home Care Packages) is for people with higher or more complex needs, offering a flexible annual budget, care coordination, and clinical care. Many people start with CHSP and transition to Support at Home as needs increase.
In some cases, yes. While you can't receive the <strong>same service</strong> from both programs, you may use CHSP for certain services (like transport or gardening) while receiving Support at Home for others (like personal care). This is called a <strong>"mixed care"</strong> arrangement. We can help you navigate this.
CHSP is generally <strong>faster to access</strong> than Support at Home. After you contact My Aged Care (1800 200 422), you'll have a phone assessment. Once approved and referred to us, most people can start services within <strong>1-2 weeks</strong>. Urgent needs can sometimes be expedited.
